When you install IMPULSE Wireless on your Sonim XP8, our app requests access to the Sonim XP8 PTT button and the XP8 SOS button. It is possible that this may not be granted, or that another app may reassign these keys. We have seen this happen with Microsoft Teams taking back the buttons.

Here are the instructions to set the Sonim XP8 SOS and PTT buttons to IMPULSE Wireless. Please note that your device might look slightly different depending on the version of Android and your carrier.

Access the Sonim XP8's settings menu by swiping down the notification bar twice and tapping on the gear icon.

Scroll down and tap "Programmable Keys"

You will be able to view which application is currently assigned to each of the Sonim XP8 programmable keys. Tap on  "PTT key" to reassign the XP8 PTT key.

If not already showing "IMPULSE Wireless" under "Select PTT Key App, tap on "IMPULSE Wireless" to assign the PTT button to IMPULSE Wireless.

If you have the IMPULSE Wireless Lone Worker application for GPS tracking, generally this will be the application used for SOS, and the XP8 Red Key and the XP8 Yellow Key will need to be assigned to Lone Worker as in the screenshot below. If Lone Worker is not installed, assign the Red or ALARM key to IMPULSE Wireless in the same way as you assigned the PTT key to IMPULSE Wireless.
